Nature Onboarding Humans

One of the four recently approved KIEM projects is “Nature Onboarding Humans. Mission: Ecosystemic Regeneration,” led by Ewelina Schraven, lecturer-researcher at the Chair of Economy in Common. The project poses a fundamental question: how can entrepreneurs make the transition from a human-centered to an ecocentric perspective, so that they actively contribute to ecosystem restoration? In collaboration with local entrepreneurs on Texel, researchers, and creative professionals, the project investigates how the voice of nature can be structurally incorporated into policy and practice.

Why is this relevant?

At a time when climate change and biodiversity loss are urgent issues, there is a growing need for an economy that not only causes less harm but actively contributes to restoration. This project responds to this urgency by providing entrepreneurs with concrete tools to engage in nature-inclusive business practices.

What will be done?

The project develops an ecocentric workbook containing methodologies, stories, and tools that help entrepreneurs structurally embed nature in their business operations. This includes workshops, co-creation sessions, and the use of imagination through Key Enabling Methodologies (KEMs).

Who is involved?

The project is a collaboration between:

  • Avans University of Applied Sciences (Centre of Expertise Wellbeing Economy & New Entrepreneurship)

  • The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Centre of Expertise Digital Operations & Finance)

  • De Organisatie Activist

  • Nyenrode Business University

  • World Ethic Forum

  • National Park Dunes of Texel

  • And, of course, Nature itself, recognized as a full-fledged stakeholder.

What makes the difference?

“Nature Onboarding Humans” contributes to Wellbeing Economy by supporting entrepreneurs in a mindset shift towards a regenerative economy. The project is a seed for a broader movement where humans and nature thrive together.
