As a lecturer–researcher in Human Resource Management (HRM) at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch and within the Impactful Value Chains research group of Wellbeing Economy and New Entrepreneurship (BWNO), Elias focuses on promoting sustainable careers.
His upcoming PhD (expected December 2025, Radboud University) specifically examines how educational institutions can foster sustainable teaching careers by encouraging proactive career behavior — a crucial topic given the significant challenges in the education sector. In his work, he translates these and other research insights into practical education and advisory activities within the HRM field.

Research
His PhD project, Sustainable Careers in Education, explores how educational institutions can support teachers’ sustainable careers through factors such as leadership, engagement, proactive behavior, psychological needs, and inclusion. The results of his research have been presented at international conferences and published in journals including the Journal of Vocational Behavior.

Professional experience:
PhD candidate at Ghent University (2020–2023) and Radboud University (2023–2025; PhD defense in December 2025). Since June 2024, Elias has been working as an HRM lecturer at Avans University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch.
